I like learning new things. I thought this would be kinda fun to add random facts about stuff that is either good or bad for you and the environment~so I'll start with something and the next person follows:

Did you know? that 1 tsp of white sugar shuts your immune system down for 5 hours. leaving you suseptable to all kinds of virues and bacteria.

Oh, God. I'm screwed then. I think I've had 3 sodas already this morning! (My preference over coffee...) lol
  3. Posted over 2 years ago
I think Ive matched the 3 sodas with 3 coffees..LOL!
  4. Posted over 2 years ago
    oh bugger.
so if you like eat a couple of big, tasty, sweet cookies, and nutella on bread at school....
your immune system doesn't work well?
    oops.
i matched the soda and coffee with 3 nutella sandwiches and some coca cola (when i got home) xD

This must be why I haven't been getting sick lately! I've had to cut down on my sugar and caffeine because of cysts, eww. :(

I just found this out from our holistic doc! after eating half a box of donuts, felt like poo for days. He was laughing at me i thinK...LOL

I was eating a candy while reading this :( lol

Did you know... that the flouride in your tap water is actually poision?

Omigosh I have one teaspoon of sugar or sweetener in my tea!! I'm guaranteed to have one cup or tea in the morning and maybe one or two throughout the day.

I haven't got a fact to add. Where the hell do you find these things out?
  9. Posted over 2 years ago
LMFAO Lolly Bot! they add huge amount of flouride to the city water here, if your on a well your safe but they want you to give it to your kids in tablets~ Kitty it IS poison, it causes neurological problems

Did you know~that MSG a "food enhancer" triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates causing obesity, another word for MSG~hydronized vegetable protein better know as another neuotoxin. other side effects include migraines, ADHD, alzheimers and so much more.
  11. Posted over 2 years ago · Edited over 2 years ago
Yep it sure is...what amazes me is that most people are blissfully unaware.. or even better, think flouride is actually helping their teeth LOL!

    MSG SUCKS TOO!!!

Did you know... aspartame is bacteria poo? They feed bacteria sugar and use their droppings as a sweetner. Sounds funny, but it is actually seriously harmfull to your body!!

How about using honey as an alternative to white sugar? There are natural ways around white sugar and fake sugar. Others are brown sugar and agave nectar. I have all 3 in my house and only use refined sugar when a recipe calls for it. :)

Did you know that using a facial or body cream that contains mineral oil/petroleum oil/petrolatum only sits on top of your skin, clogs pores, and suffocates the skin cells? This is why some "moisturizers" are addicting--these oils actually dry the skin cells by suffocation so the customer has to keep reapplying. Jojoba oil, however, is great for the skin--the closest oil to natural human sebum.

Another one--did you know that vaccines are 99% ineffective, yet endanger the lives of babies and the elderly?

Did you know that the scrubby grains in your face wash are more than likely tiny plastic pieces? They are one-use items that can potentially create micro-tears in your skin (even the apricot kernels in St. Ives do this, so stay away from that too), but even more importantly, they go down your drain and end up polluting the environment! Even plastic pieces that small are harmful.

Boo on me--I accidentally bought a scrub with these things inside. Never again!!! >.<

we use raw sugar, honey or veg glycerine depending on the recipe. white sugar is actually relly expensive, imagine that?! aspartemine is another and its in everything, literally. omg I did the same Witchy Rachie, I have sensitive skin, I think i lost a few layers and my face was raw and dry forever! cant forget good ol assholeflame, its not spelled that way but it sounds like that, its similar to asspartemine...LOL
  16. Posted over 2 years ago
Thank you Rachie for bringing light to the vaccine problem. I wish I would have done more research before I had my first child, baby #2 will be vaccine free!

And I did not even think about the face scrubs, I just got one from avon and loved the scrubbing action..I always just assumed it was something natural that did the scrubbing, like shell bits or something. ughh plastic is everywhere, I hate it!! Do you have any alternatives to face scrubs? or is "scrubbing" bad for skin in general?

I stopped using lotions a long time ago, Olive oil is a good alternitave to moisturize the skin.

    which reminds me...

I herd somewhere that margarine is 1 molecule away from plastic. Don't know how true that is, im no scientist but I will take my chances with butter :)
  17. Posted over 2 years ago
I think you are right about the margarine thingy! LOL!
  18. Posted over 2 years ago
YUCK! I havn't (knowingly) injested margerine since I herd that.. it's been about 5 years now :)

    nothing seems safe anymore :(

do you know... what is in your baby formula?

    http://www.thedailygreen.com/living-green/blogs/organic-parenting/baby-formula-safety-55123101

baby food also contains a very high amount of sugar.
  19. Posted over 2 years ago
have you tasted baby food lately? I'd say it needs more sugar, and salt! lol

Also...with margarine. You can leave a tub of margarine outside for a week and nothing will touch it. No ants, flies, animals...nothing. I even tested this to be true.
  20. Posted over 2 years ago
No, my daughter is 4, so it's been a while since I tasted it. I have a bun in the oven and am due next month so I will have my chance to taste soon LOL.

Actually I just bought a baby food cook book and plan on making stuff fresh as much as possible.

That is so nasty about the margerine.. I herd of someone leaving a mcdonalds meal on a shelf for like a year or something and it looked almost the same and it had not started to decompose yet!

My mom had a loaf of wonderbread in her pantry for over a month and a half without it going moldy... EWWWW!
  21. Posted over 2 years ago
It's true about margarine. Face scrubs... you really shouldn't use one. Use a drying clay masque instead; it does the same thing, but without the potential harm to you OR the environment. Also, even if products claim that they are "natural," don't believe it. In the cosmetics industry, it is so messed up that they are allowed to call mineral oil an "organic" ingredient--because a zillion years ago, it used to be alive. x.x It's ridiculous.

Also, olive oil slays all other makeup removers. My mom was using this stuff that would stay on for 48 hours without coming off (NOT good for you!!!) and she wanted to remove it at night, like a good girl.... the only thing that worked was olive oil!! Nothing else even touched it. (I think the mascara was Revlon or Cover Girl "Colorstay" or something like that.)

Not to mess with anyone on their parenting skills, but really, breast milk is the safest thing for your child, and you. Women can suffer huge issues if they don't breast feed. One of the minor issues is that "things" don't close up properly after giving birth if you don't breast feed.

The natural baby food cook book sounds really cute. :)

Can you imagine that people actually eat margarine spread onto Wonder Bread?!!! There is no nutrition in that!!!! >.<

  22. Posted over 2 years ago
I plan on breastfeeding, I only hope I can get a latch this time. My first tore me to shreads, I was so sore! Like getting a paper cut in the same spot over and over and over. I think she was getting more blood than milk at one point (sorry that was pretty graphic hahah) So after a couple weeks I just pumped it out for her. 2 months of that was all I could handle.. better than nothing at all I guess.
It is the best thing for them, and it helps the mother lose the baby weight faster :) Good motivation!

Olive oil is the best, I use it on everything!

I try to keep away from makeup, only wear it rarley. I herd they use aborted fetuses and animal fat to make it (and god knows what else).. so I feel uncomfortable slathering it on.. I wish someone would tell me that is not true and that it is made with plants and berries or something hahaha.
  23. Posted over 2 years ago
Kitty~ I love makeup but cant wear over the counter crap, so i havent worn any for about 5 years, and my skin looks better than ever. there are a few product lines out there that are made with minerals, however you have to be careful, if they are made with metal flake they too will mess up your skin.
  24. Posted over 2 years ago
Kitty, they do NOT use aborted fetuses. lol That would be illegal as well as a health hazard and grounds to be sued. They do, however use a lot of chemicals.

    http://www.lifenews.com/2006/08/08/nat-2486/

"To produce the treatments, clinics are using tissue from babies killed in abortions from 6 to 12 weeks into pregnancy and stem cells obtained from destroying human embryos to inject into a client’s face. The fetal cells then begin a supposed rejuvenation process that makes the skin look younger."

"To obtain the cells, women in underdeveloped nations are paid up to $200 dollars to carry a baby up to the optimum eight to 12 week period when the fetuses are “harvested” for their stem cells which are then sold to exclusive cosmetic clinics."

Ok so it's not "make up".. but people are still using them :( it's a sick world we live in.

    omg, BARF!!

Kinda makes me wonder what sick things have not made it to the news yet...

  28. Posted over 2 years ago
hmm... despite Rachie's claim to breatsmilk and every doctor out there saying how good it is for babies- I will probably never ever do that- I'm way too sensitive around my breasts, I don't even like my boyfriend messing with them.

I used to do these with my students and after posting this one I got a lot of science teachers e-mailing me because they had a lot of questions about it-

you can make a diamond out of coal and peanut butter.
  29. Posted over 2 years ago
I'm serious about that diamond from coal and peanut butter. REVEAL YOUR SECRETS!!!! Looolll.

Of course, breast feeding isn't for everyone, because not everyone can do it, but it makes me a little sick that people would refuse to give breast milk to their children if they were perfectly capable, just because they thought it was "weird" or something... it's their decision, so I still respect them, but I don't know... it makes sense to me that people would WANT the best nutrition, if at all possible, for their children.

It makes sense 200% to not breast feed if it is harmful to the mother. In fact, I'm pretty darn sure that Oreo the cat was abandoned because she USED her "milk teeth." Some babies are hard on mom....

Anyway, I believe it is still illegal in the USA to use fetuses in cosmetic treatments--or really, anything. It is done in some countries, though--that is true.

If you are concerned about the quality of the products you use on your skin and hair, I HIGHLY recommend Aveda. Yes, it is a little pricey at first, but the products are so high-quality and concentrated that a little really does go a long way. For example, I bought a cream blush from them in 2008 or the end of 2007, and I use it every day, and I STILL have plenty left. That blush stick was, I think, $14.00. Also, I used their skincare in the green glass bottles, and my skin was never better than then. I can't say enough good things about them, honestly.

The products are up to par with the strictest vegan and humanitarian guidelines. The products are made with organic ingredients HOWEVER possible--and nothing artificial is used, nor are genetically modified ingredients.

    :)

ha ha it's pretty easy to make a diamond from coal- it does require a high-powered microwave (the kind that's probably really bad for the enviroment) and a grill. lol But from what I read it wouldn't be difficult to do.
