I don't cut!

My style is kinda emo/scene...

So if I walk around on school...allot of kids say; Emo...Go cut yourself ore die...

I REALLY HATE THIS...

What to do to stop this?
what to say to them?

Hmm, I think it's probably best to ignore them. The people who label others like that are going to be shallow about everything anyway and speaking back to them will just encourage them. They're not worth your time.

That's true but somtimes it's so hard to ignore it...

Threaten to cut them instead? Hehe

Nah I was never very good with deflecting insults. Normally I would just agree and exaggerate; for example - "You sleep with seventy year old men, don't you?" (< real rumour about me) "Yep. I have a whole harem of seventy year old men waiting to satisfy my every need"

I dunno if that would work with self harming, but you could say something like "Yeah, I killed myself twice last week. It was a good week", if you can excuse the fact that it's kind of in poor taste.

The best way is to say something like 'Yes I do' and smile as if you take it as a joke and the shock on their faces would be immense but I know what it's like to have things said about you that aren't true so saying you do might go the wrong way and personally I hate people thinking they know something about me that isn't even true. You don't care what people think but it still hurts when someone is horrible!

I was awful at sticking up for myself just made it worse, ignoring bullying made me have a breakdown eventually cuz it was all pent up and all came out in one big ikky mess. People as a collective are horrible! I don't think anyone knows the answer which is sad!

Telling a teacher was actually the best thing I ever did but you never know with these people. I wish I had the solution!

I bet they've even seen your arms and not seen any cuts or scars! grrrrr I hate people! Self harming was quite common when I was in school and you didn't have to be emo but emo wasn't as known as it is now (oh god I feel old), they are really just doing it to wind you up. I had counsilling for a bit too when I was in school and she was like 'They're probably jealous, you're quite pretty' which I didn't believe at all but you look nice in your photo! They're all the same these people it's either jealousy, stupidity, boredom, shallowness and general nastyness or all so just you remember that! You're better then them.

"Threaten to cut them instead? Hehe "
LOL that's what I was going to write ^^

I hate it when people act like this... for me it's mostly being called "satan" or being called... well... emo xD
The people at my school are quite stupid, anyway... last year on Halloween (which isn't really celebrated here) my friends and I kinda dressed up (actually I was wearing clothes that I'd also wear for going out, but mostly not to school... black, lacy, long skirt, top hat, really dark makeup etc). One of my friend was wearing bright pink combined with black and pink, fluffy, glittery antennas ^^
When we were walking around school there were some comments like "It's not carnival today!" - and one guy actually said "Oh my god, look at them! They look as if it's halloween today!"

The thing that annoys me is that these people obviously don't know what self harm is, they are laughing at you for doing something that is actually an illness! I know you don't do it, but they don't know that!

People are so ignorant. What would they do if you turned around and said," well yes I do cut myself, are you going to help me stop?" eughhhhh

I hate that they use labels as insults, I mean if you call yourself emo then you're fine with liking that style and listening to the music how would saying emo insult you!? Although in this case it does but more the cutting thing. I got called a goth when I wasn't! It makes me wonder if they are actually clever? I say this every time this thing comes up but it's annoying.

I agree with the "I killed myself twice last week"

It kind of is in poor taste, but its high school, you arn't exactly expected to be the classiest most tasteful beings Happy

Its funny, and they won't say shit when they know you arn't subservient Happy

I agree with Opposites, I hate when it's just used as an insult cause it's actually a serious problem. If you did cut, it would actually be none of their business anyway.

You need to just..find some way of turning it into a joke, you know? If you get annoyed, they'll do it more. If you ignore them, they'll do it more. You need to reply but make it obvious that it's not bothering you

I can relate somewhat with the label thing. I moved to a new school recently, and the people were real idiots. They managed to find out I'm 'religious', as they would say, and got on my case about that. They suspected I was out to convert them or something. Not sure why, seeing as I never talked to anyone about anything. Ignoring them seemed to help, in my case, but I would think in your case it ight not.
I would try a sarcastic remark back. That's always fun. I always feel pround if I'm quick enough to respond with something witty. Otherwise, I'm not sure what to do. Queenfairypants had mentioned that she told a teacher about it, which is always a good idea. It never hurts to mention it Happy
