More vegan food in college cafeteria

So recently my university started adding more vegan choices to our food. I'm not vegan but I'm really happy about it because I'm allergic to different foods (including diary)and don't really eat meat, so its nice to have more choices. So now we're getting more soups that are vegan, and when they make things with meat sometimes they have the same option without meat and diary. Small changes like that.

And a bunch of students are pissed because of this saying that the university shouldn't be pushing their healthy beliefs on them, that they can eat what they want and that they shouldn't have to keep seeing these options. Um wtf? I don't even understand this thinking, you get to choose what you want to eat anyway there's tons of options but their upset because they have to see it so those of us who don't want things cooked with meat and diary have to suffer?

Its a bunch of bullshit and really stupid.

Sounds to me like a bunch of bored college students wanting something to rant about so they can be "hip and trendy and in the know" with their school or some lame crap like that. I never went to the school cafeteria when I went to college- we had a bunch of fast food places that served at our college so my friends generally went there to get asian or a burger or pizza. I think only those who lived in the dorms ever used school dinning hall. I guess all you can do is write the school a letter explaining your situation with the dairy allergies and how much you appreciate the change in the menues as it allows you the opportunity to eat from their cafeteria. If you have a campus newspaper I'd probably send it to the editors of that so they can print it and people can shut up about their pathetic complaints and maybe realize that the change in food isn't a bad thing.

Haha this is funny. I'm a vegetarian and I would really appreciate the opportunity to order something without meat and dairy! Yay! So rare. Not only is this option good for vegasn but also for people with allergies or even people on a diet.

I may be way off but I believe the real reason they are unhappy about having to see the "healthy" options is because perhaps they feel guilty about not eating better themselves. Out of sight out of mind you know. Their reaction may also be affected by where your school is located. Both colleges I have gone to never had this issue. They are either located in a large city or a very liberal town. The best thing to do with people like this is to sneak them delicious vegetarian food(not faux meat) so that they realize healthy does not mean bland. Many people eat vegetarian items without even knowing it.

Definitely do as pinkweeds suggested. If you remind them that they can still make the same choice, they just have more options now they may chill a little.
