Braces. :(

I went to the orthodontist for a normal checkup, expecting to get one of those, "The three out of nine teeth we pulled in April still haven't come in, so we can't put braces on you." But instead, he and his assistant talked to me about putting braces on me next week and getting something called a herps.
My mouth is pretty small to begin with, and having a giant lump of metal in the back of my mouth is going to make me look like a man. But to solve THAT problem, they're putting in and expander! Yay.
Oh well, at least I'm not dead.

Aw no! Poor thing! I had braces for years... I can relate. You do get used to them though and after about a month you mainly forget about them. The sooner they go on, the sonner they are taken off Happy

Aw I feel your pain. Braces sucked...Take aleve or Tylenol BEFORE you go in that way it will be working when you need it. Also baby teething gel works good to numb your gums they will be tender right after.
I have the same issue with a small mouth. they pulled 8 teeth at once in order to make room. Hope you like soup! If you're a wimp like me you won't want anything you have to chew for the first few days. The first week is the worst, once you get used to it you forget about it. Enjoy having "slimy" slick teeth! That's what I missed the most.

I had 4 teeth removed to make room in my small mouth. After that getting braces put on was nothing. The only thing was trying to get used to the rubbing of metal against your mouth but I don't think I let it prevent me from eating whatever I wanted. Getting them off though was the best feeling ever! I was literally counting down the days to the day I should get them off. The worst was though that I had them for the majority of my junior year in high school and I ended up having to get glasses that year too. I felt like such a geek.

hahaha I feel your pain! I'm only 5 feet tall I got glasses in grade 8 (just before going into highschool) then in the last week of august I broke a bone in my foot and got a cast which came with crutches THEN 2 weeks into highschool I got braces too! I looked like a complete geek. But now I have nice teeth so it's all worth it in the end.

Dont eat anything hard, use the wax they will give you for your braces and in a week you'll be as good as new!

I just got them on yesterday, and I'm very achy right now but everyone I've talked to says it goes away in 2-3 days. Happy
I also got an expander, and everything gets stuck in the roof of my mouth! I also have a lisp....

The lisp will go away in time. It takes a while to get used to talking with them in your mouth. If you see any of the Buffy episodes when the show first started you hear all the vampires talk with a lisp too. It's pretty funny.

Also DONT under any circumstances eat toffee or chewy carmal stuff it gets stuck to the metal and is a pain to get out.
Also try not to chew on really hard things...like jaw breakers. I was doing this and broke a bracket. The bracket came off the tooth and someone had to cut it off with HUGE wire cutters until I could get into the docs. It's very painful, so be careful.

I've had my braces on almost a year now...the expander was my least favorite so far in the process. Make sure you clean that sucker extra good...I had a seed that I didn't know about wedged between the expander and the roof of my mouth and I ended up with a little scar.
I'm not very annoyed by my braces, and if I am wax really helps...You should be fine =) Good luck!

I just got home from dentist,and..i got my tooth pulled out! When i was sitting in orthodontist's chair, i felt that maybe i could keep my tooth with me. But when they said i have to go to the dentist (same house) and pull my tooth out, i started shaking and i could do nothing about it. Now i have started to feel pain in that place where my tooth was. Happy But atleast i'll have a nice, beautiful smile after all this! ^-^
