Prohibited items through customs

Following a discussion about KinderEggs not being allowed in America, I wondered if there are any other countries that have prohibited items? (usually food, and I know some countries such as Australia have a strict policy on foods and scan all the mail that is received)
The last thing you want to do is send something that gets returned to you, or worse, destroyed because it can't be shipped into a country.

Here is a place to share this information.

Kinder eggs are not allowed in America because the small pieces pose a choking hazard, although the toys have clear warnings the toy is essentially candy so they see it as a problem. I personally think responsibility lies with the parent and not a company, any children that would potentially choke on a small piece shouldn't be eating candy in the first place. I'm from the US btw.

i can bravely say that i sent kindereggs to the dear person who posted above me Happy here in germany it´s the most common thing to have them, there´s even a sign on the package that you shouldn´t give them to children under age three so everything should be fine, they even reinvented the capsule for the toy to make it safer... i always thought it´s not allowed to sell them in usa, but it´s not allowed to send them too? felecity, you´re lucky you had no swat team in your living room! me too!! Happy
the most ridiculous thing in law is that you can go in jail for taking a stone or plant with you from a foreign country... i mean, it´s not okay to steal someones stones but jail??

There is a story about a woman from Canada (where kindereggs are legal) having hers seized from the car when she crossed the border into America!

I guess I should clarify about the kinder eggs, you can have them sent to you in the private mail but they can not be sent to a store or purchased from the Kinder company. It's really sad Happy I used to have a pen pal in elementary who would send me kinder eggs, so I feel like they are a part of my childhood.

So Lala just sent me some so I have had my fill for awhile, Thanks for the offer, I may remind you about it later;) So Lala also introduced me to "Ritter"? chocolate and since there is a European market in town I can get it whenever I want! The Marzipan is AMAZING! It's pretty rare to find almond flavored candy/chocolate in America which is strange since it's so yummy.

I hope we don't get my parents in trouble they are coming next week with acid drops, liquorice and blackcurrant, lemon sherbets (hubby),Mars bars (teen) and if their allowed some "child ovoids" (in German)-just in case the FBI is monitoring Bindiibabe.

Best story I have about this is when we moved to the US we brought Lady Grey Tea for a friend.Got to Seatac bags were pulled and I was asked if I packed mine.I had.Could I explain the metallic packages in my suitcase.I looked blank then went into this whole thing about how sweet it was but totally un-necessary for hubby to bring my fav tea etc....
