    Shrinking crisps?

Started about 1 year ago · Last post about 1 year ago · Displaying all 5 Post
    Hey all,
I've just learned that if you put a crisp packet in the oven you can shrink it down to key ring size (kind of like shrinkys), I was wondering if anyone has done this and could give me any tips, and if anyone has tried this with other plastics, candy bars ect?

    Thanks

I tried this once. Even when I followed the directions exactly, it ended up ruining my baking sheet and almost destroying my oven. The smell of burning plastic was almost unbearable. I don't know what went wrong, but if you still decide to do this, I recommend being HIGHLY CAUTIOUS.

I was worried about the burning plastic (Im not great with fire, having set myself on fire a few times and managed to burn a hole in a patchwork blanket despite having no flames in the room at all)
My plan was to take it outside and use a heat torch or a hairdyer if it will get hot enough.

Low oven temperature or a heat gun might work well. I know that there are some plastics (I think #6 recyclable) is useable for shrinking. As for more crisp packet shrinking, I would check tutorials here and maybe do a Google search.
