    Favorite Musicals?

Started about 1 year ago · Last post 24 days ago · Displaying Post 1 - 30 of 48 in total
I am a total musical lover, so I was wondering what your favorite musicals were and if there are any you would highly recommend.

My favorite is Wicked, but I also love Hairspray, Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, and Aida.

I want to know what you guys recommend. As always, you have a right to disagree with somebody's opinion about something, but you don't have the right to post rude comments. So what are your favorite musicals?

Easy - Seven Brides for Seven Brothers!
    But I looooooove musicals!

Hmm... I've never heard of that one. What's it about?
  4. Posted about 1 year ago
It's a 1950's big screen musical with Howard Keel. Fun in all it's cheesey-ness!
Worth it for the barn raising scene alone!

Oh, I watched a scene of that musical for inspiration for a dance I was choreographing.

Hello Dolly and Guys & Dolls!!! Most fav 2 ever :) though I do like a lots of the classic musicals too :)

I haven't heard much of Guys and Dolls, but I'm working on "I'll Know When My Love Comes Along" with my vocal coach right now, and it seems like an awesome musical.

I actually really like Camelot (but I'm biased; we just did that one at my high school...).

Also, Bye Bye Birdy is a fun one! I'd really like to see Wicked, too, but I haven't gotten the chance.

Wicked is absolutely spectacular! You just have to see it! They've done several national and a few international tours, so perhaps they'll do another one. Or you could always see it on Broadway. If you just want a sample, there are lots of videos on Youtube.

Wicked's my favorite i've seen so far too! It was amazing. I saw it ages ago as a gift from my aunt, but I'd die to see it again.
Dont laugh, but my 2nd favorite is Tarzan on Broadway. lol I saw it in NYC, and it was fantastic! Everyone had dreadlocks and were acting like monkeys, swinging everywhere. It was great!
The only music from a musical i actually listen to is the music from Sweeney Todd. I love the morbidly funny songs, never seen a proper play of it tho.

I've never seen Tarzan. My director said that that was the only Broadway show she had ever seen people leave during the middle of the show, but maybe I'll look into it now that I know somebody who can tell me a little bit about what it was actually like. I was watching the movie the other day (in Spanish, trying to work on my foreign languages some more). Are the movie and the musical similar?

My favourite has to be Wicked, I've seen it 2 times now and planning to see it for a 3rd in the summer- ' freakin' amaaazing' doesn't even come close to describing it!

I know, right? I saw it on the national tour, but I hope to see it on Broadway.

Took my daughter to London see Wicked last summer for her birthday, it was amazing!
Gotta love the Wizard of Oz too!
  15. Posted about 1 year ago
I like Wicked better, but Wizard of Oz is a classic!

Guys and Dolls is the best! My school just put it on as a play. The whole thing is brilliant.

Any musicals you guys want to see? I really want to see Cats, Guys and Dolls, and The Fantasticks.

My favorites are a little less well known then the big hollywood productions but I recommend

    1) The Last Five Years - Two people telling the story of their relationship, one starting at the end the other starting at the beginning. They meet in the middle when they decide to marry. It's beautiful.

    2) A New Brain - A Gay song writer who has put off his dream to write for a children's show he hates and discovers he has a brain tumor.

    3) Into the Woods - Another look at the Grimm's fairy tales with tons of humor, wit and insight as all the characters interact.

But of course I also love Wicked, Sweeney Todd, Songs for a New World, Tick-Tick BOOM!, Phantom of the Opera, Bat Boy, Aladdin the Musical, Summer Stalk, Kiss Me Kate, Phantom of the Opera, Avenue Q, Beauty and The Beast, Chicago, Jeklle & Hyde ... the list goes on...

Phantom of the Opera. No competition. I want to see Billy Elliot

I want to see Billy Elliot too. But I'm going to see Jersey Boys with all my friends around May or so.

Wicked!! And I'm going to see Mary Poppins soon
  22. Posted about 1 year ago
Oh, I've thought about seeing Mary Poppins, but I've never found a time.

I saw Tarzan on a school trip to New York, and i loved it. I cant believe people left! I thought it was exciting! They actually swung around on vines on stage, and butterfly people came from the ceiling, it was awesome. If you like the movie, you'll definetely love the play, their exactly the same. Only tarzans hotter, and the characters are real and funny. lol XD My friend laughed at me cuz i knew all the songs and was singing. lol
I ALMOST saw 'Phantom of the Opera' in high school, but when we were half-way there on the bus my school cancelled the trip!!! It was supposedly 'because of snow', but it never snowed! I was never so pissed in all my life. And i had seats right behind the orchestra, and we were never refunded. grrrrr...
My Aunt saw Mary Poppins and said she liked it. :) But she's seen EVERY play out there before.
I think i heard of a 'The Little Mermaid' broadway play somewhere years ago, was that true? because THAT i would love to see. lol That was my favorite movie as a kid. I also want to see Green Days American Idiot play. Sounds interesting.

The Little Mermaid is one that I was curious about too. I wonder if it was better than the movie or not.

    2) Repo! The Genetic Opera (but I don't think it was on broadway... it's more of an alternative thing.)
    3) Sweeny Todd: Because when little boys sing...

    LOVE LOVE LOVE
I like Andrew Lloyd Webber's music in general. And Stephen Soundheim.

Les Misérables is my favorite, followed by, Sweeney Todd, Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat and Cats.

I have been acting in community musical theatre since I was seven (I'm sixteen now) and I have been in about nine musicals including Joseph, The King and I, Cinderella and currently Singin' in the Rain!
