    Beginner Acoustic Guitars?

Started 10 months ago · Last post 4 months ago · Displaying all 6 Post
Alright, so I've decided that I really want to learn acoustic guitar, and I want my own to learn on. I'm probably going to have to buy my own, so I'd like one that's $200 or less.

I want it to be a nice one, preferably NOT laminant (though I know that's asking alot for a cheap guitar), and I would also like a dreadnought. Any recommended guitars/brands would be fantastic! Thanks!

Oh, and my dad just offered to split the price of whatever guitar I decide on, so $400 or less is now an option! (Sorry I'm so cheap! :P)

I've been playing guitar for about 4 years. The acoustic that I really like is called a Fender Sonoran. It's part of fenders california series, I have it in a discontinued color, but it comes is Gray, Blue, Red (which I really like), Black, and Neutral. It goes for about 275 for the neutral and 300 for the colors.
If you want a value you might want to go for the Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500MCE, It's a bit more than you mentioned, but it's worth it. Comes in a sunburst and a natural blonde. Nice thing about it is it has solid back and sides which is unusual for a guitar in that price range.
Those are the two that I really like. I would recommend both of them just because they're not throwaway beginner guitars, they'll last a while. Especially the epiphone, having a solid back and sides will make the sound better over time.
I hope I helped you find what you're looking for.

I had a classic guitar I was given by my godmother when I was like 14. I tried to learn but gave when I couldn't get my fingering right (that and I just don't have the talent for it). Later I realized I have abnormally short pinkies :P

    random sorry

"cheap" Ibanez acoustic guitars make very nice sound,I payed about 200 for mine and it is really good.
Fender is always a good option.

Look into an Ovation Celebrity. A new one is closer to the top of your budget, but I got mine used in like-new condition for $200. You're going to want a case for it as well, but those are only $20-$50. The great thing about the shallow bowl Celebrity I have is that it has a built-in tuner that takes a 9V battery and it can be plugged into an amp like an electric guitar. Mine is a beautiful red color with mother of pearl inlays, and my fiance has his own that's a sunburst/natural color. They're worth every penny you pay for one.
