Any old movie fans?

I just watched Rosemary's Baby with my boyfriend and I thought it was good. I guess it just got me thinking of older movies that I like. I think my favorite is Rear Window. I don't know why, but I love that movie. Also, my dad got me into A Clockwork Orange and I really want to watch Soylent Green(another favorite of his). And my mom likes anything with Gene Kelly. I like Singin' in the Rain(how can you not like that one?) and On the Town. Also I like old plays too, like La cage aux folles and the King and I(sooo amazing). Anywhos, I was just wondering if anybody else had an old soul like me!

I dig the old flicks too. I'm a big fan of Paris when it sizzles, Breakfast at Tiffani's, Roman Holiday,Sabrina, the Marx Brothers, Any James dean. Old Marlon Brando. Casablanca. I also really like clockwork Orange as well as Harold and Maude. You have good taste!

Try Rebbecca (Hitchcock), The Trouble with Harry (Hitchcock), Dial M for Murder (Hitchcock, Arsenic and Old Lace (Capra), Psycho (Hitchcock), Some Like it Hot, I don't know who directs that but it has Marlyn Monroe in it. I really like Breakfast at Tiffany's and Sabrina too. Oh, and the Marx brothers and Singin' in the Rain. I really like TCM I think it's the best channel on cable. Its a great way to get exposed to new, old great movies. And there are no commercials.

I definitely miss many important films on my list (which I am obviously dying to see - in the near future I will make time for watching them), but I classify myself as an old movie fan. Take musicals: any modern film with singing in it turns most of the time in a parody, while old movies keep their elegance (except for My fair lady perhaps). The story might sometimes have little depth, but old movies are visually attractive because of the stunning looking actors, Technicolor and primative special effects. I do not say modern cinema is inferior, I say old is not a synonym for worn off or bad.

I grew up watching and loving old movies. I remember not being very impressed with Casablanca when I saw it on TV but when Bogart Jr. came to town to do a screening at the museum I ordered up tickets for me and my best friend to go and I really enjoyed it. It's a whole new experience watching it in the theater setting rather than watching it on TV.

The Women is one of my absolute favorites! I love how the movie centers around women's relationships with men and each other- but mainly men and how you never see an actual man in the whole of the movie (the remake couldn't compare to the original)

Out of Marilyn’s films my absolute favorite is The Prince and the Showgirl. She’s produced that film and it’s absolutely brilliant in my opinion- she isn’t just a dumb showpiece in this movie- she totally calls out the Prince in what he’s doing and laughs in his face about it. Love that!

My boyfriend isn’t a huge old movie fan but I totally got him sucked into The Nun’s Story when I watched it with Audrey Hepburn and The Heiress with Olivia de Halvilland which are both awesome films. I’ve also forced him to watch GiGi and Sabrina with me. He was less of a fan of those.

I adore the theater. My whole family has been in the local theater for years. But my grandma, my mom, and I have been the most involved. I actually really miss doing stuff there.

My trick, being a horror fan, has always been to pick stuff up cheap around halloween. I do have to admit that when I volunteered with the film festival, showing movies on a crap rig in a closed restaurant made me kinda want to run a janky-ass grindhouse midnight double-feature kinda theatre.

I grew up watching old films with my parents. It's funny I asked an older lady if she liked a Cary Grant movie and she was shocked that I knew who he was. Love Gene Kelly, James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Fred and Ginger, Jimmie Stewart, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Jack Lemmon, Doris Day ect...Seems like older actors had class whereas today we have movies like Knocked Up. I think I like older movies, because they actually have a plot and don't seem to have a boob quota to fill.

I just watched MIRANDA with Glynis Johns, for the first time and laughed through the whole movie. My husband never watched old movies growing up and claims he doesn't like them, but I put on The Seven Year Itch and he somehow ended up watching the whole movie. Happy

Definitely watch How to Murder Your Wife, with Jack Lemmon!

Oh I so want to see Miranda! It's been on my list of must-sees for ages! I saw the sequel Mad About Men a couple years ago and fell in love with it! Ever since I've wanted to see Miranda too!

I didn't know there was a sequel to Miranda, it's in my instant queue, I plan on watching it this week!

p.s.How To Murder Your Wife is also available through netflix instant viewing if you are interested. It's a little older mid 60's
