    Heya!

I'm a professional Makeup Artist and would love to discuss makeup with anyone here who's interested - fave colour combos, product recommendations, techniques...anything!

Anyone else obsessed with everything makeup?

cool. Right now I am a fan of Vichy make up. I have this amazing foundation from them. Also a huge Lancome fan, I love their lipsticks.

But NYC makes a nice light powder and their lip sticks are great as well.

and I am into the natural makeup look. I just wear foundation and a bit of neutral lipstick. Neutral for me is a rose like pink, because my lips are naturaly dark and I have pink undertones in my skin.

but you might be able to help me with a new look for my wedding.

I have 3 eyeshadow quad things that I use the most, one in browny pinks, one in smokey blues and purples, one in greens. I decieI love framing my eyes so I go dark on the outer bits of my eyelids to light on the inner bits. I love having big full lashes. Despite the mascara I use (the stuff that claims to make them look fuller and longer) you can only really tell close up how can I make them stand out more!?

I don't mind paying up to a 10er for one bit of make up because it lasts better then cheap stuff.

I can't do mascara. My eyelashes are crazy mad long. When I put it on, it creates streaks on my glasses.

Wait for it to dry first then lol! I don't do my fringe until my mascara is dry so I won't get black on my fringe and so that they will dry all fluttered out and won't get pushed down by my fringe! Although I cut my fringe cuz i couldn't see very well lol
  6. Posted over 4 years ago
u know, I never tried waiting for it to dry lol

I have the same problem michelle G when I wear glasses...and I let my lashes dry! Curling them does help a bit though, you might want to try that :)

yeah, good idea. I am a simple make up person, I really havn't gotten into wearing alot of make up. Only foundation.
  9. Posted over 4 years ago
Trust me - before I became a makeup artist I didn't even wear foundation. Just lip gloss and mascara! I still don't wear much anymore, and what I do wear is mineral makeup.
  10. Posted over 4 years ago
I have been thinking of trying that. Mineral makeups, any suggestions on what to try?
  11. Posted over 4 years ago
yeh I like the sound of the mineral stuff because it doesnt sink in like liquid foundation
  12. Posted over 4 years ago
true. I like using concealer and powder. Although I wouldn't mind mascara(I got super sensitive skin though) whats a good brand to try? I don't like cover girl at all. Rimmel is ok...love Lacome(but 20 dollars for a mascara...I don't know about that)

I like make-up, but i get scared of buying the expensive ones in case they turn out shit. I usually go priceline and buy my foundation, powder, eyeliner ((the one thats like a windup crayon :D)) and mascara from there. I have this 10year old eyeshadow palette i still use. It works, but i love the girl's who have really amazing makeup like on the LJ community Punk makeup. So Bright!

I'm a bit of a makeup whore but don't like spending lots. I have a £7 mascara because I have feeble eyelashes, but my liquid eyeliner was only £2, I use Max Factor mousse foundation because it's the only one I can find which is pale enough for me without making me look really white. I use cheapish red lipsticks and red lip liner, then lipcote. A cheapy eyebrow pencil because my eyebrows are too light. I don't have much I can do though - I have black hair, pale skin and green eyes so I can only really wear red, purple and grey tones which makes me look really gothic
  15. Posted over 4 years ago
no way, you could get really light coloured eyeshadows that are shimmery and you could wear dark pink lipstick/gloss instead of red. My foundation/blusher makes me look whiter but I think that's just at first because you've just seen yourself with none on and because I wear blusher it warms up my complexion. I've lost my blusher though and forgot to buy more when i went shopping yesterday :( I'll get some tomorrow though :) I usually never loose anything!
  16. Posted over 4 years ago
Yeah, ou should experiment with different colours of blush Knittin' Kitten - that will warm your face up. Also try brown mascara and eyeliner - this will help you look less goth, if that's not your thing.

I really love the brand bourjois, I think it's really cute and they have different ideas to most brands, the packaging is really clever and pretty too but it's a little out of my price range.

Loreal have a new mascara that you can see from a distance as well as close up which is great but I wonder if it will work :S Bourjois new mascara has long and short bristles, the short puts lots at the roots of your lashes and the long bristles extend your lashes so it looks like your wearing eyeliner on your eyelids!

well Queen, Maybe I will try that Loreal mascara. and tell u how it is

i've ALWAYS had a love for makeup, and would often get those really cheap crappy sets as a kid and experiment..
i don't have them anymore though since i gave them to my little sister [who is now 11], and basically the only makeup i own are a couple of cheap eyeliner pencils. i want to buy some more makeup, that aren't only good in quality but on the cheap side since i'm pretty much broke right now so i can't fish out the money for really expensive products..
i'm also after some good -- yet cheap -- makeup brushes, as i don't have any. i was wondering if anyone here knows any brands that they could recommend to me? i'd be REALLY grateful.
i really miss experimenting with makeup, and have been watching a ton of tutorials out there on the internet but haven't been able to even try them out. +_+

and you have really gorgeous eyelashes, michelle.
i barely have any >.< they've been falling out a lot lately.. i don't know what's wrong with them :s

do you have a bodycare near you video kid? I got two big brushes in there 99p each I think maybe 1.99.

btw you're supposed to get a new mascara every 3 months or so because apparently there's little micro organism (i think thats what they're called) that live on our eyelashes so they collect on the brush and in the tube, you shouldnt keep any make up for longer then 2 years either and wash you brushes in a little shampoo every now and then :)
  22. Posted over 4 years ago
i'm not too sure, there's probably one in town somewhere. i'll have to go have a look.

what happens to the mascara though?

and thanks for the tips ^^

it just gets full of ikkyness and that's not very good when you're putting it so close to your eyes! my mum went to this make up thing and the lady cut open a used mascara and put it under a mircoscope and she said it was horrible!

you might be able to get make up brushes from a pound shop too :)

    Edit: also try Superdrug
  24. Posted over 4 years ago
ohhh, that's actually kind of gross.
what if they purposely infected that used mascara and told your mum that just so that she'd spend more money on mascara every 3 months?
i mean, micro-organisms are pretty much everywhere, you can't really avoid them.

and yeah, my mum told me to go to the pound shop for the brushes but i want the brushes to last and not have bristles falling out everywhere when applying make up. this has happened to me a lot in the past with cheap brush sets i've bought/been given :P i want cheapish brushes that are at least.. standard? quality...

oh, and i'm thinking about making my own makeup products. eyeshadow especially. miu linked a great website which has a tutorial on how to make your own mineral eyeshadow, and the website even sells all the stuff you need. it's extremely cheap considering the amount of ingredients you get, you can make so much for so little. and you can make your own custom colours, which i think is awesome.

that's a lot of effort to go to to make someone buy mascara lol it's the fact that it's so close to your eyes, kinda need my eyes!

can we talk about perfume as well? my favourite is Anna Sui Secret Wish

    I love dolce Gabanna's Slicily....

Perfume discussion is always allowed in my opinion!

I am obsessed with perfume, good quality perfume.
I'd say scent is my best sense and I've always wanted to make my own perfumes XD

I have a few on rotation, depending on the weather, time of day and what I feel like wearing at any particular time:
    - Hypnotic Poison by Christian Dior
    - Alien by Thierry Mugler
    - Arabie by Serge Lutens
    - Midnight Poison by Christian Dior
    - Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf

and I have a few others floating around that I like to wear sometimes :)

I should say I love fresh citrus smells and I hate vanilla, because I am allergic to it. I always get sick when some one is wearing vanillia feilds or some cheap perfume like that. I like the body sprays at the body shop too

I used to wear make up every day for work until I left Ireland 5 years ago. Now I wear it only when I go out partying or maybe to the mall. I am very pale and have dyed black hair so I find it hard to get a foundation that suits me, but I did get this great Body Shop powder, it's the perfect shade :)

I love Borjouis make-up! I love glittery eyeshadows :) I have a gorgeous black one with silver glitter in and a body shop 4 pot one with pinks and plums with glitter :D hehe

For work I just wear mascara and eyebrow pencil, as mine are very fair.

My favourite scent is Manifesto from Isabella Rosselini, by far the nicest I have ever had. It's a beautiful citrus scent. I only have a dribble left :( Stephen can't find it anywhere.
My second fave is Burberry Weekend :) It's a lovely warm scent. It reminds me of winter and makes me feel snug.

My eyelashes always clump together and on one eye they all go one way together in the opposite direction! stupid lashes
