    Ongoing ATC Swap

Started about 2 years ago · Last post about 2 years ago · Displaying Post 1 - 30 of 339 in total
After a suggestion from Michelle G and support from many others for the idea.... I am now (attempting) setting up an ongoing ATC Swap.

I'm thinking that we will do it a bit like the Newbie v Vets swap. List names in this post of those waiting for an ATC swap.
The person at the top of the list gets to pick their partner (fairest way I could think of)

Also, how many vets would be open to the idea of allowing newbies to do this swap? (Newbies to follow the rules of the Newbie/Vet swap)

So... Rules of the swap (please let me know if I've missed anything)

    1. Minimum 9 card swap

    2. Send out date to be confirmed between swap partners.

    3. You can include up to 3 cards made by someone else in your swap.

    4. Be creative

    5. Have Fun

Looking forward to this and hope we can all make this work.

    K/xx

    ******ATC SWAP LIST******

I WILL NOT BE POSTING THE LISTS OF SWAPS IN PROGRESS AS THE LIST WAS GETTING TOO LONG AND UNLESS THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH A SWAP, I THINK YOU ALL KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING NOW :0)

Hi Ariel, hope this helps :0)

For those that don't know about ATC's (like me), I have found some information for you :0)

As their name indicates, ATC are collectables, a brilliant idea born of the older sports-themed trading cards. The one rule that makes an ATC derives from this: the dimensions of the ATC must be 2.5"x3.5", or 64x89mm.
Second, on the back of each ATC the artist writes part or all of the following information: name, contact information, title of the ATC and number (1/8, 2/8...) if it's part of an edition. By definition ATCs are made in limited numbers, often no more than one of a kind. Unique ATCs are called originals; sets of identical ATCs are called editions and are numbered; sets of ATCs that are based on one theme but that are different are called series. Don't be intimidated by the concept of small editions or originals: very few people are anal about this. What most collectors really want are cards that were made with care. Based on that, numbers are meaningless.

That's all! The above is all you need to know to start making your own ATCs. Common sense dictates that they should be sturdy enough to survive mailing, and of reasonable thickness (unless you specifically want them otherwise. Transparent card sleeves are useful to protect the cards if need be. This is particularly true if they can easily get smudged or if the medium might stick during transport.

The above is courtesy of http://www.cedarseed.com/air/atc.html
(which may I say is a very helpful website:0))

    http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/atc-backs

This has the backs as a pdf template so you can download them :)

Please note these backs are smaller than the card size which is 2.5x3.5 inches. There should be a boarder all the way around the template black line for the ATC to be the correct size.

ATC is acronym for Artist Trading Cards and yes Ariel you can use anything you can think of so the possibilities are limitless. I will have to check back later on this one to get in on the fun, cuz my internet is still out. I'm presently having to make trips to the library to get internet access until Charter get their butts in gear and get my cable fixed.

RosiiPosii here can you find examples of ATC's people made.
As you can see, they can be made of anything as long as they are 2,5 x 3,5 Inch big.

Ok wait, does the 3 that are made by someone else count as part of the mandatory nine or included separately?

TiffanyNoelle just let me know what's a good send out date for you. I still don't have my internet access at home, so I will try to check back more often until it's back on.

BTW this is some of my work that I have posted on my ATC network group and a video on youtube.

What if we dont have 3 that are made by anyone else..lol

and what would be good for you Creativemind...I think around the 28th would be a pretty good send out date for me :) let me know what u think

    ^
I hope not because I don't have any. And mine are off by like .25 inch for some reason when I printed the template. Weird. Are they totally invalid? I put them in nice baseball card holders!
  20. Posted about 2 years ago
Template is slightly smaller than the card I'm not sure why I've always thought it's so it does not interfere with the design.
  21. Posted about 2 years ago
    Hi Guys,

Doesn't matter if you don't have ATC's from any previous swaps or partners, the total amount is 9, so 9 of your own is fine, but you can include up to 3 from other people.

And Ariel.... looking forward to swapping :-)

    K/x
  22. Posted about 2 years ago
    That's fine with me TiffanyNoelle.
And me, I would want the correct size. Don't mean to be difficult or anything, but .25 is just too much of a difference for me since I've been making these for a couple of years now. I don't use a template, I cut my own with a paper cutter. Even a metal ruler and X-acto works pretty good too. Another tip for you newbies on ATC's, you can use an old deck of cards or other trading cards like Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh too. They are the exact correct size.
  23. Posted about 2 years ago
Magic the Gathering cards work too ^___^

I want to be part of this, so I guess I'll sign up and wait for the next person to join in to pair up ^___^

    As usual I'm:

    Mary ;)
    Living in Torino, Italy
    Shipping internationally

    uh, and I'm a vet ^___^

Sorry I have correct Creative Uk playing cards are not always the correct size.Always check the size of any recycled card.
The template we are referring to relates to the info on the backs of the ATC so is not size critical.
UK Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards are different sizes.Pokemon cards are the correct size
  25. Posted about 2 years ago
Ok ceativmind, and also can we move the date to the 31st bc I had a family emergancy today and I need a few extra days to work on them...

if this doesnt work for you just let me know, thanks!
  26. Posted about 2 years ago
Well obviously I wasn't speaking of cards from the UK since I know nothing about them. I was referring to cards here in the US. NOTE: This is not a hostile response, just saying.

No problem Tiffany, whenever is good for you.
  27. Posted about 2 years ago
    Hi Ariel,

CM is right as some people do take ATC's very seriously, and yours are a bit too small. However, I am doing this for fun so I have no problem with the size or the subject. For future swaps though, it might be a good idea to make them the right size. Although, you could cut out the right size and glue the smaller ones on to the bigger templates ^_^

I have already had some brilliant ideas for your ATC's, they do take me a while as I'm a bit of a perfectionist so hope you don't mind if our send out date is 3rd June at the latest?

Very excited to be swapping with you

wish i'd seen this before today as i'd of taken part :(
  29. Posted almost 2 years ago · Edited almost 2 years ago
Tracy for this swap, you just say you want in and provide certain info, which then you are added to the list of swappers waiting for a partner. I think how it works is that the next person on the list, that hasn't chosen a partner or hasn't been chosen, gets to pick who they wish to swap with. So when you get picked or has picked someone, you both just agree on your own send out date.

    thank you for that creativemind
