Heya! This is my second year of making Crimbo presents for people. Last year was a huge success, with people getting sock monkies, purses, stenciled tshirts, jewellry. Everyone seemed to like them :)

This year I am making more purses, a big cushion, sock pigs, more jewellry, doing some subversive cross stitch, having a poster made, doing some artwork....I tend to go a little mental :D

What have you got planned? x

I'm making some of my Christmas presents this year too. Last year I made my Mum and sisters handbags, might make them another one this year too. All the girls in my family are getting either Black Apple dolls or Ruby Dolls. I'm sewing a surfboard bag for my eldest son, clothes and (hopefully) a quilt for my youngest son. And my fiance is getting a felt lowrider car...(now lets see how much of this I can get done before christmas lol) I'll also buy gifts for the boys but I think handmade is always nicer :D

I want to make X-mas prezzie's. Not sure where to start though... might make a piano bag for one of my friends??

I'm making Fabric jewelery boards for my 5 nieces.I've been playing with a mini Art quilt book and promised my 8 yrs old niece a necklace tree in the summer.
The ideas combined to make fabric pictures they can store their jewelery on. Will post images of the first one later. Also will be making button jewelery.
Last year there were sock creatures and funky knitted handbags. This year have a sewing machine so it should get a differant range this time round.

I decided as much as i can to make all my christmas gifts this year. they mean more then just picking something up at a store- plus- i'm kinda broke because we bought a house this year hahahaha i really hate how stores have commercialized christmas

We don't have presents for Christmas, it's not a tradition in Holland. We do have a tradition of giving each other presents at 5 december. Children are told that the presents are given by Sint Nikolaas or Sinterklaas which is the deteriorated word for Sint Nikolaas. And Santa Claus is actually detoriated from Sinterklaas. We don't hang stockings but leave our shoe by the fireplace for Sinterklaas to fill with presents. So anyway, enough which the teaching. I wanna make some presents but I'm not sure what yet. Most difficult is to think of something for dad and my boyfriend or man in general.

My mother-in-law is from Holland..herd all about Sinterklaas..If I lived there I would hope to have big feet (so more could fit in my shoes haha) Ya making things for men is hard sometimes..Im gonna crochet my husband a remote control cozy..we always loose the darn things.

Have made some sort of plan as to what folk are getting.....

One of my friends is getting a giant red tartan cushion, another friend is getting a huge cookie cushion, and the last friend is getting a handmade felt cupcake-with its own handmade box :)

Mother is getting some type of tree thing...I dont know the name, I shall describe it though :) a little metal bucket, with dry oasis in it, a pencil will be placed in the oasis to make a trunk, pebbles will be used to cover the oasis on the top. Then, I am getting a large polystyrene ball, which goes on top of the pencil (keeping up yet?!). Paint it black, then getting some black and red printed card, cutting out many flowers, then using coloured drawing pins to attach them to the ball....get what I mean??

Fella, for one of his bits is getting an ipod....not any old ipod, but a Snoo Fantastic handmade ipod, complete with cute plushy earphones :)

The fellas sister loves liquorice allsorts, so she is getting some custom handmade jewellry, all made from polymer clay. She is getting a pendant, ring and earrings. His Mum is getting a purse and a sock pig. His other sister is getting some music related handmade items...so things like a plush keyboard, or microphone...piano style pendants..

The girls I work with (4 of them) are each getting a handmade felt cupcake or muffin, each in their own individual boxes....

What do you think? Maybe I have thought about this WAY too much :D

xx

I'm making presents too. My budget is very limited (i'm currently unemployed) so I'm going to try and come up with ideas using the things I already have. My first gift is going to be an apron for my brother-in-law.

04 Nov 14:02

i love home made gifts, and am starting my planning for this year. I always make potato candy and oreo bars, and chocolate mice. Last year i made everyone flannel pj bottoms. but im still unsure about this year.

06 Nov 20:52
Not sure really...I'm thinking stencilled clothes will be a good idea this year, I can just go round charity shops and pick up tops for like £2 a go to stencil (I'm very poor right now). Not sure about my dad though. I'm thinking about making some of these awesome felt scarves for my mum and sister and friends http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/easy_fleece_scarves cause they look so pretty and easy to do! And there's a cheap fabric place near me so hopefully they'll only cost me a few quid each. Umm maybe button necklaces for some people again, they tend to go down well. Not sure about the boyfriend - maybe a few cool guitar picks, he keeps losing his. Everyone knows I'm poor though

the scarves are a great idea

07 Nov 22:20
I went to Boyes today and found this fleece fabric which has stars and moons and rockets all over, so I'm gonna make one of those fleece scarves but cut out lots of stars about three inches across and sew them all together like that =)

Hey Jessica B. and to others who dont really want christmas gifts for themselves. Why dont you suggest your family give a gift in your name?? Or give you a gift certificate for Kivi or World Vision or the like where you can help someone in need. I asked my family this christmas for that, I'm sure not all of them will listen...and some of them think I'm nuts. But, if even one person listens its a pretty cool gift, and you can get a lot for $20. :)

I'm still getting my gift list together, but so far its going to include homemade flavoured olive oil, felted bowls, hats, and potentially a purse

I'm making an advent calendar for my boyfriend. All the little presents inside are going to be ornaments I made myself. They're going to go with another present that I'll bring him that day. There will be sort of a theme for each day (like one day I'll give him a little house ornament and that day I'll bring a ginger bread house kit for us to do together). One of the biggest present is going to be a black Christmas tree. I'm also making some cool ping pong ball lights and I'm making a sparkle ball for the topper. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I'm doing some other things for him too but this is probably the most involved. I'll post pictures of it after Christmas because I don't want to ruin the surprise :)

Well so far I've made one and a half gifts. I've made my sister an apron from fabric I had lying around and I'm busy making my gran a photo frame from discarded packaging (cardboard box) and some rope. Will post some pics when it's done!
