You should search on here and pinterest.com for things your looking to make. That's where I always find great tutorials! Pinterest has links to a lot of great blogs if you check it out :)

Oh and also allfreesewing.com is a good one! I think though where ever you find tutorials, they will expect you to know the basics already. Like button holes, zippers, turning, and sometimes mitering. You might want to try making something really simple like a tote, until you get the hang of your sewing machine.

I just searched pinterest for you and read through a handful of blogs, here are a few really promising looking ones :)

    http://www.couturiermommy.com/p/beginners.html

    http://www.coldhandswarmheartcrafts.com/2012/01/sewing-tips-for-beginners.html

    http://jamiebrock.hubpages.com/hub/Easy-Sewing-Projects-for-Beginners

hope that helps! If your ever working on a project and get stuck somewhere, post it as a Q here! I have been sewing for a while now, and lots of other people on the site are super experienced too :)

Another good blog to check out is:
    mimigoodwin.blogspot.com
Her tutorials are geared towards beginners. Her blog is also a style blog but she does sewing how-to's as a well.

I post weekly how to's on my blog womantoanother.com. If you have any questions about sewing feel free to message me and I'll be happy to help you out (^_^)

I went to a thrift shop and got some vintage sewing magazines and they have a lot of things in them that can help beginners without paying a lot for a new sewing book/magazines.

    http://www.youtube.com/user/aglanceatmyworld (great beginner projects there!)
http://www.youtube.com/user/Craftovision (Owner of threadbanger's other channel, doesn't post as much anymore)
    http://www.youtube.com/craft (crafts in general)
    Websites:
http://www.burdastyle.com/ (check out there techniques section)
http://craftgawker.com/ (there are some sewing tutorials)
    http://stylegawker.com/ (some fashion sewing tutorials)
http://pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=beginner+sewing+projects (just a search of "beginner sewing projects" on pinterest)
