I want to make myself a cape!!!

I absolutely love capes. And I would like to make myself one. But I need to be able to sew it. So my questions are what fabric would be warm( besides fleece, I don't really like it) and an easy pattern. Because I'm not the best at sewing. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!!

i uploaded a cape some days ago, it´s made of wool fabric. generally wool fabrics are warm if they have volume (the thick fabrics), mine is a woven with woolen yarn and was felted after weaving. maybe loden cloth or a bouclé is something? but wool can be scratchy so i lined my cape. if you don´t want to line it, look after fabrics made of really fine wool like merino (although i have to say merino scratches too, at least i think so) if you don´t want wool because of the source or the price, there are polyester fabrics that look and feel like wool! you don´t like fleece because of it´s look or how it feels? if you just don´t like the look, there are fleece linings you can use for the inside and have a fancy fabric outside.
i constructed the pattern myself, but at the moment you can buy them online at burdastyle and the pattern magazines are full of them!
i´m not sure if you can create a pattern from a circle skirt pattern, but maybe it´s worth a try Happy

I made a dressing-up cape for my neice using a circle - very full and takes a lot of material! A full metre of fabric was used to fit a 3 year-old

maybe just work with half of a circle? it´s not just a lot fabric if you want it in one piece, but also a ridiculous long hem!

It's a pity about not liking fleece - because you wouldn't need to hem it!
