Journal making help

Hello fellow craftsters, I'm in need of your help Happy

I want to make my friend a journal for her birthday to encourage her to start writing again but I have no idea what to do. I'm going to buy a cheap journal from the dollarstore and decorate it but I don't know what to add to it to make it more personal and handmade. I was thinking of a collage but I have no magazines or anything to rip up Tongue

Maybe find some inspirational quotes from other famous writers and you could write them really nicely on random pages?
Quotes from her fave books or films?

That sounds great! I'll print em out though since my handwritting is pretty terrible! how would I collage them? Do I just brush on some white glue? I've never done a collage (blushes)

I've never done a proper collage before either, that sounds alright to me though. Obviously the glue becomes clear when it dries?

yeh collages with random images might help can you draw? incorperate random drawings in too!

Unfortunately I can't draw, but I have a duplicate of one of my national geaographics that has some nice inspirational images that I may also collage. Oh and ribbon, can never go wrong with ribbon Tongue

you are so right about ribbon

we had to make like a million collages for the graphics part of my course and they had to be made up of right angles only, apparently that's the only way you're supposed to do it!!!? this was supposed to be an art course!

I found a journal at the dollar store but I'm still going to keep my eye out because the one I got only has 200 pages. I was hoping for a thicker journal.
