So I've been trying to learn to knit for years. I've got 4 books, watched videos and had someone show me, but I still can't cast on :(
I can't do a slip knot so I end up doing a right-over-left knot around one needle and doing some sort of loop to get more stitches.
Can anyone help me to cast-on?

You should try watching the videos and learning how to knit backwards like a left handed person. That way when you watch the videos you can follow them exactly.
It was just brought to my attention lately that I knit like a left handed person, I just think its weird that I never noticed, considering I've been knitting for almost 10 years. Better yet, my om knits like a right handed person, although she's left handed.
I'm pretty sure I only knit like that because someone sat across from me when I learned and didn't even think to flip it when I was younger.
