Replacement For Knitting Needles?

okay so... my dads pretty sick right now
and i can't navigate on the TTC for my life : P
actually..i know the way to the mall..im just pretty lazy..
and the local FabricLand closed recently.. =
So im wonmdering what can i subsitue Knitting Needles for?
pencils?
would it work?

If you have any wooden dowels laying around, you could make your own. Just cut them to length (if they the one yard length) sharpen an end with a pencil sharpener and sand. Pencils or pens would probably not be a good idea as you would get lead or ink on your work.

I thought about those (skewers) too. Those should really work, they are already sharpened but they probaby will need to be sanded a little so that they won't snag, also the sharpened edge may need to be dulled down. I remember those things are really sharp. You don't want to shish kabob your fingers. And so that your work won't slide off the other end, just add a rubber band or better yet glue on a bead, then you would have stylish needles. Happy
