#2 Fine yarn equals...?

So I live in a small town and my LYS is Walmart (the joy). I’m looking to buy some yarn online but I can’t figure out what yarn weight/sizes are. I’m using Red Heart’s #2 Fine yarn with a 3.75mm hook (i’m not following any patterns, just making my own small things). Is #2 the same as 2ply? Fingerling?

Also, is there any North American sites that you prefer with a large selection?

Pretty sure it's sport weight, which is like, slightly thicker than fingering, but it's like the one yarn weight I've never used so I'm really not positive on any specifics.

I'm lucky enough to have a yarn shop in my town, but it's way out of my budget so I usually buy my yarn online. I like Webs (www.yarn.com) and knitpicks.com best. jimmybeanswool.com is also one of my favorites. They have something called "wool watcher" that has deals that refresh like, every 90 minutes or something, I don't know, I've been kind of poor lately, lolz.

Oh, also thecozyewe.com has really good prices.
