Stencil Help!!!!

So I bought a super cute simple but sexy black cotton dress, it is knee length and I want to stencil a raven in a medium red color onto the tail of it in the front. Think a "poe" raven.

Any ideas on the best paint to use?
also, any help with how to make the stencil would be great! I have found images I like, but not sure how to make them into a stencil!
I really want it to come out great and I have never stenciled onto fabric before So any help from fellow crafters who have, would be very welcome!
thank you so much!

To make a stencil, you can use freezer/butcher paper, draw on the design you want with a pencil, cut it out with a craft knife, and then iron the paper stencil onto your dress. A good paint to use is Tulip fabric paint as it's durable and stands the test of time. You just have to apply it lightly or it could weigh down the dress a bit.

silk screen fabric paint will work well.

Silk screens are really cool for stenciling but it can get pricey to do it right... but I have seen people make home-made (but kinda jankey lol) screens made of an embroidery loop, silk or cheese cloth and a resist medium painted on to make the stencil.
