    Help softening wool!!

Started over 1 year ago · Last post 11 months ago · Displaying all 5 Post
I'm making myself a scarf and the wool i'm using is 25% wool 75% acrylic. I've crocheted a bit of it then tested it on my neck and it seems a little rough on my skin. Is there any technique i can use to soften it without ruining it??

Machine washing as per the instructions on the ball band before wearing should soften it up a bit.
Alternatively you get liquid specifically for handwashing wool, it can be quite expensive and I don't know how much difference it would make.

A whilst back I knitted my boyfriend a scarf - the wool felt a little rough too but after washing it, it seemed to soften up a bit.

I brush my hair and it gets soft..perhaps the same method would work if you didn't mind making it look like a cotton ball. If you do mind I'd put it in the dryer on the same setting that you dry your clothes on for about ten minutes.
