HELP! Itchy dry skin on neck and pimple problems too...eek

Started about 2 years ago · Last post about 2 years ago · Displaying all 27 Post
last month I started getting pimples on my neck, so I started using some acne creme on them, only problem is that it has made the skin so dry and itchy, it feels like it on fire.

I have very sensitive skin, and it reacts to almost everything. I am using a acne cream for sensitive skin, but still get the over drying and itch. and even more pimples.

    arrrgh.

ps my back looks really bad right now too. super explosion of back acne.

Try mixing geranium, lavender, tea tree and chamomile essential oils to any scentless cream and rubbing it on your acne. Geranium, lavender and tea tree will treat the acne and chamomile is to soothe the itching. Hope this helps.

I have super sensitive skin also and am prone to breakouts- really embarrassing being in your mid-twenties and having acne. My mum purchased the Oxy face wash as well as the cleansing pads and the hydrating therapy and that has worked wonders for my acne. The face wash is a Benzoyl Peroxide wash which is what dermatologists recommend for acne. I generally follow the hydrating therapy with my regular moisturizer or if it’s at night I follow it with my super heavy anti-ageing cream stuff. But the oxy stuff is wonderful. It can dry out your skin if you are using it too much so do it in moderation (it really doesn’t take a whole lot to get a great effect). I don’t really have a fixed schedule on when I use it but I only use it once a day if I use it. Otherwise I just use my regular face wash which is a bar soap but for faces.
I have a really hard time finding a moisturizer that doesn’t make me break out. The best moisturizer I have ever used has been from Dove but they stopped making it so I am currently using a moisturizer from Mark which my Avon lady gave me. It works just as well as my Dove moisturizer and hasn’t made me break out which is a good thing.
I’ve tried tons and tons of acne remedies and home remedies for my acne and this is what has worked for me.

I would recommend mixing some honey and brewed green tea with some sugar and using it as a scrub. Sugar and honey help fight acne and green tea is a great natural moisturizer. Follow that up with some kind of unscented Jergen's or Eucerin lotion and that should take care of it; the dryness and redness might mean you're allergic to what you were using, so stop using it and use more natural things.

I actually just developed a soap recipe to fight acne and moisturize skin - my fiance has been using it (his family gets acne even into their 50s as well) and he loves it, and it's already clearing up his skin and reducing the appearance of some of his acne scars.

My skin got really bad as soon as I got the implant (getting it taken out in a few weeks though)and I found that E45 cream helped keep it under control. I just used it every evening before bed and after showering and it made a massive difference. It's definitley not a fancypants product, but usually the best things for your skin are the most simple.

I just wish I knew of a sure-fire way to get rid of the scars that are left behind. I've Vitamin E oil, honey cinnamon and nutmeg facemasks, baking soda masks, and I don’t know how many other DiY masks with no luck.

Shea butter and cocoa butter help to make scars smaller and less noticeable. Goat's Milk soap helps, too.

must google this E45, I was using clearasil, it was helping then one day this huge rash. will stop using

I drink loads of green tea. next paycheck I need to buy more honey, ran out.

Sudocreme I find is good for the spots and is recommended for acne and e45 is great for the dry skin, perhaps ask the doctor for some cream for the dryness like epaderm or dermol. I work in dementia care and these creams are fantastic on delicate skin and i suffer from eczema so i have always had problems with dry skin and they work well but i do need to find a good non greasy one for my face.

its hard isn't it, to find a good face cream

When I had bad acne when I was like 15-16, my physician gave me a prescription for Differin, but I can't remember what it was like other than it worked without making my skin too dry. I would wash with benzol peroxide or whatever, dry my face off, then put on a bit of Differin. Did that for a couple weeks and my skin cleared right up. I haven't had acne problems at all since then--just the occasional stress zit.

I used to get really bad "backne" when I was 13. It was horrible! My back looked so bad I would never show it, not even in the pool. It would hurt a lot too and be really itchy! I think it was mostly from hormones because I'm 20 now and it has calmed down a lot. I ocasionally still get the odd pimple on my back. What I do is use Spectro Gel and a loofa on a stick and I really exfoliate my back and I find it helps a ton! I used to just use a shower puff and reach for my back but I find the loofa on a stick gives me the torque I need. hahaha

The only draw back is that sometimes the loofa is too rough for my sensitive skin but I guess that's the trade off.

With exfoliating bath stuff, you have to let the gritty texture of the ingredients work on their own; if you scrub too hard, you damage your skin which can lead to irritation and increased acne.

I heard that too. I like using honey and brown sugar scrubs

i have pretty bad acne on my face, and my skin is very oily, i have even have a few scras, i mainly suffer from alot of breakouts on my cheeks, would all these suggestions help for me too? and sorry michelle i don't mean to intrude on your post just want to see if the same thing would work for me.
  25. Posted about 2 years ago
All the suggestions should help you, as well.

But keep in mind that acne during your teens is likely a hormonal thing so it's going to be a lot harder to get rid of--time is usually the best healer for that aside from taking good care of your skin. Adult acne is usually related to genetics or stress and can be taken care of a bit more easily.

Sometimes, bad acne during your teens might require prescription face creams to really help get rid of it. Going on birth control can help get rid of acne, but it can also make you gain weight if a particular prescription isn't right for you. Certain pills, if they have too high a dose of hormones, can sometimes cause you to menstruate every two weeks, but if they have too low a dose they won't do too much for you at all. I had to live through all of that crap, so I'm not just BSing. lol

the hormon pills killed me, they made me too sick

lol okay then monika thanks again and i am on birth control, been on it for two years but i've never had any bad side effects
