Stealing as a child.

When I was really young, I once stole a whole roll of scratch cards from a corner shop. I thought they were free and I really loved scratching the silver scratchy stuff, so I just couldn't help myself - I didn't realize I was stealing but I thought it was a bit bad to take the whole roll anyway. The thing is, I must have had to be quite good to have managed that considering how secure they are stored and there were two cashiers there when I did it. When I got outside, I just started scratching, no strategy or concept that I could have won quite a bit of money.

Anyway, do any of you have interesting stealing stories from your childhood?

I once purposely stole some hard toffee from a shop and I remember a friend from school being there and she asked me what I was doing with it, I must have said just putting it in my pocket so I don't have to carry it lol I wasn't that old but old enough to know what I was doing was wrong. I hid it from my parents and then when my mum saw it she said had a friend given it to me so I said yes!

I've stolen things since because of peer presure (years ago!!!!) and I got caught but nothing was done about it, I don't steal anymore of course and it wasn't a regular thing.

Omg I feel so bad now lol what if I get arrested now!!!!

When I was about...seven I suppose, I was on holiday in France with my parents and my dad sent me to get some food from the campsite shop, and after buying the stuff I took twenty cents out of the money and put it in one of those twisty machines that you get prizes out of, and got a ring. Straight after I did it I was SO consumed with guilt and when I got back I hid the ring and tried to hide from my dad that he was a bit short on money. He gave me a ridiculously hard time about it when he found it, which seems silly now I realise how little it actually was.

And I've stolen a few times from shops, but normally places like Claire's. I make a point of only stealing from big shops rather than small, personally run businesses, and only ever small things. I'd never steal clothes but I don't have a problem with taking a £3 ring from Claire's.

Me and my best friend at abour 14/15 used to go into Dublin to the pound shop and steal our make-up. The Constance Carroll powder and lippie lol We were so quick we were lucky never to get caught. We did this a few times over the summer.

Another time though I nearly died, we went into one of the dept stores kinda like a bhs I suppose and I had just popped a pair of tan tights in my shopping bag when my fucking granny and 2 aunts stroll over!!! They were all happy to see me as one of the aunts was over from England and were looking in my bag, oh I nearly just dropped dead! Luckily they never copped it and me and my mate went home and went out and got pissed haha
It's been years over since then and I have never stolen again.

lol! That's what we stole, make up! of course I'm the one that got caught! I dropped the lip glosses and said 'sorry I won't do it again' and walked out, I still had one of the lipglosses but I felt so guilty I left a friend have it lol

I never got caught at home either as I had an excuse for how I could afford it. We bought our smokes and booze with our money and then nicked the make-up. So it looked like we spent our money on the make-up! hehe I hope my mams not reading this eek

I had sticked parents. They made sure they but the fear of the gods in us if we did something like that not to mention my dad is a cop!! lmao!

But I do have a story for Lillian my oldest daughter(5years old) when she was 3 years old and she was going to a catholic private school. Well every morning we would stop at this little corner store so she can get her juice and mommy could get her coffee she always asks if she could have the candy(the single pieces of candy that they sell for 5cents) but I tell her no cause it would make her tummy feel sad.(shhh being mommy you always have to be quick on your reasons lol) It sits below the counter of the register, well one morning I was talking to the cashier longer than normal and when I got lillian to the car she was opening the third tootsie roll and putting it her mouth and was handing me the empty wrappers.

I was like O.O'. I was freakin out, scared out of my mind that they would call the cops on my 3 year old.

So I told Lillian why she shouldnt steal the candy cause if she did that they would not have the money for the juice she drinks. (again another creative excuss from the mommy lol) She was sad about it and we went back in and I explain to the owner of the shop and we offer to pay.

The guy laughed it off and said he saw her munching on it and he said it was okay cause he would munch on them too. lol

So there is one story that is going in the memory books for later embarrassment with a future boyfriend lmao!

I remember in school when this girl was selling these keyrings, she'd stolen about 7 at once from a shop near the school!

I usually had spending money as a kid and teen, so I never shoplifted. Plus, I've always been a bit of a goody-goody, truth be told.

The problem people don't understand when they chose to steal from "big companies" is that while the company may not go out of business as a result of losses, the employees of locations with high instance of shoplifting losses are penalized. I worked retail for seven long long years. When losses were high, raises are not forthcoming. Work is hell, because of the stress of trying to keep an eye on possible shoplifters. In the worse cases, management is fired.

Anyway, now that I've made everyone feel guilty....

In my old work, and I worked in a big shop, no one cared. I mean, if someone stole a few pairs of jeans or something, obviously it was a problem, but we were generally pretty good with keeping on top of stuff like that. And it didn't matter if someone stole some earrings or anything.

At Evans I always took the extra buttons out of the plastic bags. No one ever uses them anyway (come on, let's face it. Even I don't think I do) and now I have a nice collection going. And although it'd be a lot easier to steal where I am now, I'm not going to. At Evans it was something to do to pass the time because I was so bored and hated my job so much (and I was never entirely sure whether it was a sackable offense or not!), whereas I love working in the craft shop and love my boss

Maybe if you only take the small dogs Happy

I worked in Tesco and we had people come in all the time and nick stuff, it did bug me, you should have seen the lenghts some people went to, elaborate wigs huge trenchcoats, that was for the teletubbies when they were big.
But I had already stopped nicking stuff by then(except the toys from kinder eggs in tesco shh)

I've worked in a lot of shops of various kinds and it always bugs me when we get robbed. I wouldn't encourage anyone to do it, but I can't deny I have done it myself. For a very short period.
