Come behind the scenes at Little Black Dog in SA for a #KnittingNookTour and see Joey's knitting & crafty room in Johannesburg, South Africa.

I love having this room to relax in and get creative. It has a lovely big window that looks out over the garden, where the wild birds come to feed every day. The room gets lovely morning sun, and is the perfect reason to make tea and go and sit in there with a crafty magazine while I start my day. There is enough space in there for Miekie (the little black dog) to join me any time.

First and foremost, I love that it's a space that's entirely mine - I can leave projects out midway through and I know they won't get moved or spilled on, and everything is right where I left it. I'm a very organised person and I like to know where everything is, so that when I'm mid-flow, I can just grab the supplies I need without having to hunt or dig through piles!

Come behind the scenes at Shirley and Eadie for #KnittingNookTour and see Ashlyn's creative space in Baton Rouge.

The natural light and openness of it. It’s located right off of our living room with glass French doors opening into the living room. Half of the room is my husband’s work space, so if I decide to stitch from the couch and binge Netflix we can still be close to one another if he’s working and vice versa.

How did you find CO+K and why did you join?

Through a sewing club I took part in my first year of high school. Someone found a tutorial on how to make hairbows on this site and I thought it looked interesting, so I checked it out more when I got home and ended up signing up.

What projects are you currently working on?

For my shop, I'm planning on making more cameo brooches and some more cameo hair bows. I just finished making the polymer pieces recently. For personal projects, I have a patchwork blanket I'm working on myself using my looms. I've only been working on it when I have nothing else to work on and feel like bingeing Netflix. I'm also about to start making a mini shawl for my friend's cat, because she keeps sitting on the one I made my friend and we thought it would be cute if her cat had one that matched her's.
