I'm an artist and writer. I've been working as a children's illustrator for over ten years, and am the author and illustrator of the picture book MONSTERS VS. KITTENS. I also draw comics and am the creator of the webcomic MY SISTER THE FREAK.
Have you always been creative and artistic?
Yes, I've always liked to draw ever since I was a little kid. I didn't take it seriously until college though.
How would you describe the style of your work?
My work tends to have a lot of texture and bright colors. I like to be very painterly.
What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?
My favorite tool right now is my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. I work digitally most of the time. However, I also enjoy watercolor and gouache paint.
Who is your favorite superhero?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
If you could have one super power what would it be?
To work super fast because I have too many ideas to create and not enough time to make them all.
Where do you look for inspiration?
All the artists I see online and in my social media feeds. Lots of movies and books. Time with family and friends.
Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?
Norman Rockwell, Mary Blair, Raina Telgemeier, Kazu Kibuishi, and many more.
