Features

I'm a cartoonist and illustrator based in Phoenix, Arizona, and I create the Cat Versus Human comics and children's books.

Have you always been creative and artistic?

I'd like to think so. My mom and aunt's an animator, and my dad's an architect, and we've always had tons of art supplies and resources at home.

How would you describe the style of your work?

Awkward and doodly.

What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?

I love Sharpies and felt tip markers.

I also love tech pens.

Who is your favorite superhero?

I don't know if she's a superhero, but I love Nausicaa. She's from the movie, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, on of Hayao Miyazaki's works. She's a kind person, and she's respectful of nature, and she'll do whatever it takes to battle the evil forces that want to corrupt the Toxic Forest. Or something like that.

I also like Alita/Gally, from Battle Angel Alita.

If you could have one super power what would it be?

I'd love to be able to read the minds of animals. Like my cats.

Actually, never mind. I don't think I'd like to know what my cats think of me.

Maybe, I'd like to be able to be invisible on demand.

Where do you look for inspiration?

Everyday life. I've got a lot of cats. My comics are usually about my cats, and living with them, so I have a lot of material. They're a never ending source of amusement, to say the least.

Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?

Moebius. He's quite amazing, to say the least. And Alan Moore.
