DIY Neon Nail Polish Necklace

Recreate the look with Célèste's Neon Nail Polish Necklace tutorial:

How would you describe your style?

"Whimsically elegant" is the best way to describe it concisely. I like to mix feminine and romantic pieces with menswear and a few punk-rock details. I always try to balance elements of each outfit by adding something that's a the opposite, like how the chambray in this outfit tones down all the neon and gives you eyes a place to rest.

What's your favourite piece in your wardrobe?

It changes. I will wear something to death and then move on. Right now it's my sneaker wedges.

Who are your style icons?

This is such a common question, you'd think I'd have a better answer. I don't follow celebrity fashion much, and while I admire classic muses like Audrey Hepburn and Jane Birkin, they honestly don't have much impact on my personal sense of style. I get more inspiration from fellow fashion bloggers than anyone else. I also get inspiration from fictional characters. I even have a series on my blog called "Fictional Fashion Icons."

Do you have any favourite designers?

Again, a common question, but one I don't have a good answer to. I tend to be drawn more to a collection than to a designer's entire body of work. For example, I loved what Marc Jacobs did for Louis Vuitton's A/W 2010 show, but if I name Marc Jacobs as a favorite designer, it implies that I'm down with the furry pimp hats he did this year, and I am most certainly not down with those.

Where are your favourite places to shop for new clothes clothes?

Anthropologie is my very favorite. I also happen to work there. J.Crew is great for basics.

Do you make or customise your outfits?

I make and customize a lot of the stuff I wear. If you have a unique sense of style, sometimes you have to make something yourself in order to get exactly what you want.

Do you have any great tips for mixing up and personalising an outfit?

Little details go a long way, and what you wear can be made more interesting by how you wear it. Knot a button-down shirt in front or button in all the way up and layer a necklace over the collar. Wear your favorite sleeveless dress over a shirt as a jumper. Roll up the sleeves of anything and everything and cuff those jeans!
