Simple Bracelet made from Jean Zipper
 <  Image 1 of 5  >

I never guessed when I first started making these that they would be as popular as they are. If you don't want the bother of making them yourself (or the expense of buying supplies you'll never use again) I sell them for $5 in my etsy store.

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

    Gather your supplies.

Jean zippers come in 6", 7", and 9" lengths. Choose the best fit.

I use E-6000 glue because it works so well, but hot glue will probably work, too.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Cut off all of the fabric tape.

Then, using a lighter, melt the fabric to prevent fraying and make the piece look tidier.

The zipper will get VERY hot. Allow the zipper to cool before continuing.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Attach the lobster clasp to the jump ring and close the ring.

Glue the ring to the zipper end tab. Make sure that the lobster clasp is facing the correct way (with the opening facing inwards).

If you (like I often do) have a zipper that doesn't have a smooth back, fill in the opening with glue, allow to dry, then attach the clasp.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

    Voila.

Looks like the zipper may be the new fashion accessory. There is a similar project in one of my beading magazines. But I like this one better, in that you cut all the fabric off, it looks neater not tacky! Will definitely be trying this.

Thanks for sharing.
