Ice Candles

They sure LOOK complicated.

Too beautiful to burn!
Make these great candles in an afternoon.

Melt your wax and set up your candle mold w/wick as you would for making a regular candle.
Fill pre-wicked mold with ice cubes, stopping about 1" from top.

Fill mold with melted wax, making sure wick stays centered.

Wax must completely cover all ice cubes.

Back-fill once candle begins to set up, to even out.
Let cool for at least 2 hours.

When completely cooled, tip candle mold (do this over the sink) and let water from ice pour out. Candle will slip out as water escapes.

Trim wick and ENJOY!

Wow they do look complicated, using ice is such a clever idea.

I've made a couple of these bedore and yours look very cook, but you probably don't want to light them since water get's trapped in it and doesn't react well with parafin when lit.

While these candles are normally used for decorative purposes and not usually burned, at least not often, they burn just fine. The ones I make burn straight down the middle, allowing a small emergency type candle to be inserted and the candle to continue its illuminating duties.
You will hear some occasional popping or hissing, which is remnants of dampness within the candle burning out.
The only real negative I have noticed about this candle, is you MUST put it on a candle plate if you choose to burn it, because metled wax may leak out of holes closest to the bottom.
